In January DVSC launched its fourth Dementia Aware Denbighshire Grant Round. Operating a rapid grant decision-making process, applications are being considered on a rolling basis until funds are disbursed. A total of £26,000 is available to support activities and initiatives spreading awareness about dementia throughout the county. The grant is open to the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector, town and community councils, small businesses and individuals in Denbighshire.

Open to adapted and new projects

Due to restrictions and lockdown many dementia awareness projects and programmes came to a standstill. Now that we have a road map leading us out of lockdown, we are looking forward to hear about your new and adapted projects. However, we know rethinking and redefining delivery often comes with a cost and that is why we have launched this grant round, enabling us to support these renewed projects. The ultimate aim of the programme is to continue to spread dementia awareness throughout Denbighshire and beyond with a response that is safe, effective and boosts community spirit.

£ 26,000 available

The Dementia Aware Denbighshire Grants have been enabled by funding from the Welsh Government Integrated Care Fund. DVSC has a total of £26,000 to distribute to support voluntary community action in Denbighshire! Grants up to £2,000 are available for Voluntary and Community Groups, Third Sector Organisations, social enterprises and small businesses (less than 100 employees) who operate in Denbighshire. Individuals can apply for grants up to £250.

Since opening the grant round 3 projects have received funding.

  1. Sound Radio to highlight Dementia Awareness to a large audience using FM radio broadcasting and online via podcasting and to develop a dementia friendly radio station.

  2. reSource Denbighshire who are developing an outdoor gardening space that will be a fully accessible dementia friendly space and can be accessed at any time by community members.

  3. Book of You who will be delivering group Zoom-delivered Life story creation events and provide phone / email/ Zoom support to participants who want to create a Book of You life story book using new app.
