The courses below, when listed, are arranged as part of the ‘Courses for Communities Cymru’ which is an initiative providing affordable training courses for voluntary groups, delivered by local County Voluntary Councils in Wales.

Courses are being held in Ruthin at the DVSC Naylor Leyland Centre, Well Street, Ruthin, LL15 1AF. The fee for courses is £20.00 per delegate for full day and £10.00 per delegate for ½ day (this is inclusive of all course fees and tea/coffee. Lunch is NOT provided ).




Awareness of Dementia Needs to make a Dementia Friendly Community

Learning Objectives: Knowledge can change how we provide for people with dementia in our communities, both in interaction and in environmental considerations. In this short course, we explain communication loss in dementia and offer practical solutions.

The course will include discussion of:

  • Dementia and communication & dementia and vision
  • How to speak the language of dementia
  • Mapping out the hazardous areas
  • Encouraging the community to rise to the needs of the growing elderly population
  • An opportunity for questions and advice
